I used the original high heat paint color used back in 1952. I found it at Eastwood Company. It came in a quart and had to be mixed with hardener and reducer to spray. 2/5/2013.

$1600 Later
Picked up everything from the Machine Shop. They found a hairline crack in the crankshaft so I had to order a new one. It took the manufacturer 3 tries to get me the one with the correct specs. They needed this to complete the balancing of the engine. 1/3/2013.

Prepping the Block
The last step before taking everything to the machine shop. I ran a tap through all of the threads in the block. 9/30/2012.

Stripped Oil Gallery Plug
The oil gallery allen plug stripped while trying to get it out. I had to weld in a bolt and use a small impact wrench to remove it. 9/30/2012.
95% Filter Modification
The Flathead V8 was built with a passive oil filter that some estimate only filtered 5-10% of the oil. I performed the 95% oil filtration modification that is widely used. You have to drill into the block casting into the oil gallery. You only get one shot here. Don't screw it up! 9/30/2012.
