Priming Axle and Smaller Parts

Metal Etching Primer on all bare metal.  12/29/2011.

Sandblasting.........Again.....

I sandblasted many many parts to get them ready for paint.  I used a small blast cabinet for the small parts, and my heavy duty blaster for the larger ones.  12/27/2011 - 12/29/2011.

Rear Axle Disassembly

Removing the axle shafts, brakes, and differential cover.  The gears are in great condition with no visible wear.  The seals are shot and will be replaced along with new gaskets.  The rear bearings are also still in good condition.  12/26/2011.

Spring Installation

I replaced all spring hanger bushings, pins, and shackles.  It looks easy, but took 8 hrs.  The old brass bushings were a pain to get out.  One spring hanger was also worn, so I had to weld it up and then file it down by hand to get a perfect fit with the new spring pins.  12/18/2011.

Spring Assembly and Steering Repair

I finally got around to putting the springs back together.  I ordered Teflon spring liner to put between each spring.  This will help with wear and keep them quiet.  I used all new stainless bolts and also installed new brass bushings.  I also replaced the worn steering ball.  12/10/2011.
